Baby Massage and postnatal exercise classes

Many members of my pregnancy classes find they miss the weekly contact and relish starting back at yoga in the postnatal class from about four weeks after the birth (this depends on how you feel and how the baby is with their clothes off for the massage).  However the class is open to everyone.

"After class I felt relaxed yet exercised"

The session starts with about fifty minutes of postnatal exercises which concentrate on relieving the achy shoulders and stiff back from caring for a young baby and on strengthening the tummy and pelvic floor muscles.  It is also relaxing , not tiring you out more than you are already!  It is a weekly chance to look after yourself.  A short mummy massage is followed by  baby massage.  After relieving your own tension it is the perfect time for massaging the baby.

"I especially appreciate the way Becky tailors the postnatal yoga to suit individual needs."

The benefits of baby massage are quite well known nowadays: strengthens the mother-baby bond; develops the co-ordination; enhances physical confidence in the baby and handling confidence in the mother; relaxes the baby, helping with sleep and sometimes with colic.  A clear routine is learnt for you to use at home as part of your care of the baby.

"My baby slept wonderfully after the massage"

Tea and biscuits round up the class and everyone has a chance to talk and listen in a structured discussion about issues arising in this time of change and learning.  The class is open to mothers and babies up until the baby is crawling, offering valuable weekly support and exercise.
